Washing with Dead Sea salt
A good cleaning ritual forms the basis for the treatment of eczema. Avoid shampoos and shower products with parabens and synthetic fragrances and dyes. A pure way of cleaning that disinfects and soothes the skin is washing with Dead Sea salt. In case of open eczema you start with dissolving 0.25 kg Dead Sea salt in 0.5 liter of water. You pour this into a bottle and place in the bathroom. Once a day in the shower, wash the skin with this salty water and preferably do not rinse if you can tolerate this. The most effective dose is 0.5 kg Dead Sea salt to 0.5 liters of water, so try to work towards this. A mild alternative is formed by our Dead Sea soaps. They consist of natural oils and Dead Sea minerals and gently cleanse and hydrate the skin.
Hydrate
Preventing dry skin offers a way out of the cycle of itching and scratching that is usually accompanies eczema. Proper hydration is therefore crucial, but it is essential to use products which contain no parabens, synthetic fragrances and dyes. We advise to treat the skin twice a day with the Avocado Face & Body cream.
Itching
However difficult it may be, please try not scratch your skin when itching. Petting ('soft beating') is better : it does not damage the skin and stimulates the blood flow. When itching, the Aloe Vera Gel provides immediate relief or dab the skin with the salty water. Note: this is not an alternative to the moisturizing creams, but a supplement.
Eczema with children
The above treatment advice can also be applied to children. In sebbhoric eczema (also called 'cradle cap') massage the head one of our massage oils.
Consult a doctor
It is advisable to consult your doctor in case of persistent eczema complaints. However, the ointments prescribed by most doctors are usually symptom-fighting and can cause side effects. Therefore always read the user instructions critically. Also take a closer look at your lifestyle: stop smoking, exercise adequately and pay attention to your diet.
